First open meeting announced for Torbay, Plymouth and Devon VCSE Assembly

Posted on 06 Sep 2023

The Torbay, Plymouth and Devon VCSE Assembly has announced the date of its inaugural meeting, open to any voluntary, community or social enterprise (VCSE) organisation in Torbay, Plymouth or Devon.

The meeting will take place online at 2pm on Thursday 14th September and will feature speakers including Nicola Frost from Devon Community Foundation who will talk about the Assembly’s Food Insecurities Hub; Nora Corkery from Devon Communities Together who will speak about the Health Inequalities Hub; and Tom Cox from Mind, who will speak about the Mental Health Hub, along with guests from Can Do Research and Cosmic. Attendees will also be able to meet the new Independent Chair, Diana Crump and explain how they want the Assembly to develop over the next few years.

The Torbay, Plymouth and Devon VCSE Assembly brings together independent charities, social enterprises and community-led organisations across Torbay, Plymouth and Devon. The Assembly aims to support, complement and add value to local VCSE networks and partnerships, helping organisations to have a say in how services are developed and delivered.

Through the Assembly, third sector organisations, community service specialists, community-led development organisations and those supporting people with lived experience, are enabled and supported to engage at a strategic level on service design and co-production.  They are not only a voice for the sector at a strategic level, but they also aim to give voice to VCSE organisations delivering vital services.

They are not a membership organisation – anyone who wants to be involved, can be involved. Instead, they are a space where people, communities and organisations can contribute and engage in improving how important services are designed and delivered in Devon either directly with the Assembly or through your existing local networks.

They encompass all areas of VCSE service delivery and people-led change, whether that’s nature and environment, transport, housing, health, enterprise – and any other area that supports Devon’s people and places.
