Choosing to leave a legacy is a gift that will last beyond your lifetime, helping to safeguard the future of our libraries for generations to come.
A gift in your will could be directed towards an area that interests you, such as your local library, supporting the children’s reading programmes, or be an unrestricted donation, allowing us to direct your gift to where it is needed most.

Impact Story
Legacy donation breathes new lease of life into Braunton’s children’s library!
Thanks to a generous legacy gift from a regular customer at Braunton Library, with additional support from Braunton Library Friends, the children’s library underwent a complete refurbishment. The space is now bright, welcoming and comfortable and is busier than ever with children and families enjoying the facilities. The library customer loved the library and wanted future generations to continue to benefit from a high-quality library service for many years to come.
Local author, Claire Barker, officially opened the new children’s library, ‘We are so lucky in Devon that our libraries are not only surviving, they are thriving as this new and beautiful dedicated children’s library proves. This safe space is for the thinkers of the future, the fiction adventures and the non-fiction pioneers. Do not underestimated the significance of this. This is nothing less than a space dedicated to the people that will change our world. So a big congratulations!’
A representative from the Friends of Braunton Library said: “Our children’s library is now a wonderful welcoming space for children and their parents. It is full of light and colour and every child that comes in (and the odd adult!) dives straight into the enclosed seating area to experience the feeling of reading in a totally safe space. Younger children now have excellent access to books, parents have a choice of comfortable places to sit and groups like Bounce and Rhyme can use the space more easily. A generation of children and their parents have benefitted hugely from the legacy and we are very aware that we need to do all we can to encourage children to make full use of the library, both now and in the future.’
