Willmot Dixon

We are delighted to see our partnership with Willmot Dixon entering its 3rd year.

Initially our partnership began with Willmot Dixon and Julian House to help vulnerable individuals access free warm coats in our libraries. Together we called on our communities to donate unwanted coats. Since then the partnership has grown.

In 2022 we partnered together again to deliver Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)  workshops in libraries. These free activities complimented the ‘Gadgeteers’ science-themed Summer Reading Challenge, by inviting six to 16 year olds to experience virtual reality and design bridges.

Around200 children and young adults took part – igniting children’s enthusiasm for STEM,  and helping families struggling to find free things to do during the summer holidays.

Immersive Industry Experiences

Libraries Unlimited is thrilled to be part of a collaborative effort to transform Exeter children’s library into a vibrant, exciting, and inclusive space for young readers.

We are so lucky that Dan is kindly volunteering his time to project manage this ambition, bringing  together a number of other partners from across the Exeter, including Weareprogressive, Willmot Dixon, SW Norse, and StructureHaus.

By incorporating ideas from local school children, the University, businesses and frontline staff, the aim is to design a space that inspires creativity, imagination, and a lifelong passion for literature. Currently in the design phase, the project is due to be completed in September 2024.

‘Creating projects that directly meet local needs requires teamwork, partnerships, and collaboration. The children’s library project, has enabled an army of students, education providers and businesses to do just that. The opportunity has allowed IIE to demonstrate how we work with employers to increase industry awareness and promote key sectors as dynamic places to work on community projects. The perfect example of a relevant, value-added partnership.- Dan Howson, Creative Producer & Biz Dev at Immersive Industry Experiences.

Bird and Blend

With support from Bird and Blend we have been able to purchase and introduce colour readers for families to try in the library. These can assist with dyslexia, and help people read more comfortably and confidently.
