Three Drops of Blood | Ingrid Pollard

Ingrid Pollard, a Turner Prize nominee in 2022, led an immersive project that delved into the intersections of art, history, and community.

Three Drops of Blood, explored themes such as classification, knowledge, and leisure through the lens of Devon’s unique botanical gardens, lace-making traditions, and the historical collections at the Devon and Exeter Institution (DEI).

This multi-faceted work reflects Ingrid’s ongoing research in the region, which spans generations and geographies, inviting deeper conversations around identity and heritage.

In partnership with the Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) and various local institutions, Ingrid produced a new commission in response to her research.

This commission was complemented by a series of workshops and events that involved local communities, such as Natural England, the University of Exeter, and South Devon College.

The project provided opportunities for participants to connect with Ingrid’s work, engaging with themes of art, history, and culture in a meaningful way.

As part of the project, Honiton Library hosted a collection of books related to Ingrid Pollard’s artistic practice.

This curated selection was available for public viewing from 6th August to 29th October 2022.

Alongside this, several workshops were organized to enhance the public’s understanding of Pollard’s work.
