Litcraft | Minecraft Sessions from Lancaster University

Discover the magic of reading with a little help from Minecraft!

Litcraft was a creative workshop inspiring young people to discover their new favourite books and develop a love for reading through the world of Minecraft.

These innovative sessions combined reading with creativity, inviting participants to read a bit of a book and then recreate that world in Minecraft through a series of unique custom worlds and specially designed Minecraft activities.

During 2022 and 2023, selected libraries across Devon hosted Litcraft sessions, transforming reading into an interactive and engaging adventure for young readers.

The project proved to be a powerful way of bridging the gap between digital play and the joy of books, making literature accessible and exciting.

Litcraft was devised by a team at Lancaster University, who combined their passion for storytelling with the endless possibilities of Minecraft to create an unforgettable experience for participants.
