More improvement at Kingsbridge Library

Posted on 08 Jun 2022

Carpet refit throughout the building follows opening of new meeting room.

Customers to Kingsbridge Library will have a renewed spring in their step after a new carpet is fitted throughout the building.

The work is part of a programme of improvements and developments at Kingsbridge which included the opening of a new £10,000 National Lottery-funded (along with Co-Op Community Fund, Friends of Kingsbridge Library and Devon County Councillors) meeting space last September. The room has a large Smart TV for presentations, free WiFi, a projector and screen, and users of the room can also access brand new kitchen facilities.

Kingsbridge Library Supervisor Maria Johnson said: “We’re really excited to have this new look throughout the library. In order for the carpet to be fitted we’ve got to move around 70 large boxes of books off the shelves, and then put them all back again. The whole operation will take two and a half days, and we hope our customers will understand why we need to close for this. Kingsbridge Library is a much-loved community hub, with many visitors each day.”

The library will close at 1pm on Wednesday 22nd June, remained closed on Thursday and Friday and reopen again at the usual time of 9am on Saturday 25th June.
