Making libraries more inclusive and accessible with virtual tours
Posted on 15 Oct 2024Virtual tours are just one of the many innovative ways Libraries Unlimited is making libraries feel more welcoming and accessible for the entire local community. Whether it’s parents wanting to explore their local library’s children’s area or those with mobility issues, a virtual tour provides an easy way to assess the environment and plan their visit.
Being able to see and explore a place before visiting in person can offer those with neurodivergence an extra level of comfort. Easing any anxieties to further reduce barriers to access is incredibly important to Libraries Unlimited.
Increasing the inclusivity of our spaces has been made possible with funding from the LibraryOn programme, which is managed by the British Library and supported by Arts Council England.
Now, visitors can explore all of Libraries Unlimited’s libraries across Devon and Torbay, including co-working and meeting spaces, from every angle online through our virtual tours. These improvements to our services can make a significant difference to people’s experiences when using our libraries and the facilities they offer.
To do a virtual tour simply head to our website, choose the library you would like to visit, click on that page and scroll down to find the virtual tour. We have this for all 54 of our libraries!
