Exciting Pop-Up Library Launches in Princesshay During Roof Works
Posted on 20 Jan 2025
Exeter Library is thrilled to announce the launch of a dedicated pop-up children’s library in Princesshay, ensuring uninterrupted access to much-loved services for younger audiences during essential roof works at the main library.
Work on the main library’s roof is scheduled to begin 27th January and is expected to last approximately 3 months. During this time, there will be some disruption to usual services, but the library team is excited to bring a new experience to the heart of the city.
Located at 11-15 Bedford Street, Princesshay, Exeter, EX1 1GG—just a three-minute walk from the main library—the pop-up will launch on Saturday 25th January, and will feature:
- A vibrant collection of children’s books
- Comfortable reading zones
- Creative craft stations
All regular children’s events, including the ever-popular Bounce and Rhyme sessions, will take place at the pop-up instead of the main library. Additionally, an exciting program of extra events is being curated, including live music, performances, storytimes, and more. Updates on these special activities will be available on the library’s website.
The pop-up library will be open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Callum Archer, Centre Manager of Exeter Library, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This pop-up library in Princesshay is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the creativity and community spirit that Exeter Library is known for. The team looks forward to welcoming children and families to this vibrant new space.”
The library team extends heartfelt thanks to Princesshay Shopping Centre for hosting this initiative. Their support has made it possible to maintain essential services for children and families while offering a fresh and engaging library experience in a new location.
While the temporary changes may cause some inconvenience, the library hopes the pop-up will become a cherished space for young readers and their families to explore, learn, and enjoy.
