Unlocking the Cage
Now touring libraries in 2023 – Sidmouth, Teignmouth, South Molton, Tavistock, Torquay and Cullompton libraries
Unlocking the Cage is an augmented reality installation, which brings to life the captivating stories of female writers whose work lies in the special collection at Exeter Library known as “the cage.”
Unlocking the Cage is an immersive visual and audio journey that can be enjoyed alone, or in groups of up to 4 people at a time and takes approximately 28 minutes to complete.
You are in control of your own experience, turning the pages of the book to navigate your journey. The installation is also free to experience in hosting libraries.

Library Lates, Exeter Library
Friday 31st March 2023, 7.30pm, Tickets £8/£6, Over 16s only
Library Lates is a celebration of what a library can be – music, art and workshops after dark at Exeter Library.
Music from Devon born singer songwriter Alex Hart; and from Nierra Creek. Nierra Creek are Somerset songwriter Ryan Deag and Swiss producer Sebastian Müller.
Programme includes Silent Disco, workshops, Hidden Spaces Tour and Bar Nova will be providing a curated selection of drink and nibbles throughout the evening. Find out more and book your place here.
Litcraft
Discover the magic of reading with just a little help from Minecraft! Litcraft is more than just a workshop, it’s a movement! Young people across the country are discovering their new favourite books and a love for reading through these innovative sessions.
Read a bit of a book, then create the world on Minecraft via a series of unique custom worlds and specially created activities.
