Best‑Selling Author Veronica Henry Visits Devon Libraries This February
This February, Veronica Henry, our fabulous charity patron, will be visiting four libraries across Devon to discuss her latest book!
With her 25th book, The Invitation, published on the 12th February, best-selling author Veronica Henry is going on tour, including four Devon libraries: Barnstaple, Dawlish, Bovey Tracey and Tavistock.
The novel is a family drama set between London and the rolling West Country, as the Arbutus family adjust to life after the end of the Second World War. When Clementine meets Alfie Arbutus, and he takes her home to Foxwood Manor, she finds a house full of secrets and heartbreak – and a revelation that will rock their world.
As a Patron of Libraries Unlimited, Veronica is a passionate and lifelong supporter of libraries. The Invitation is her first foray into historical fiction, so a lot of her research was done at the library, to make sure she got every period detail right, from what cocktails were served at the Savoy to how much it cost to make a call from a telephone box.
“If I have a touch of writer’s block, a trip to the library will always jump start me and fill me with inspiration,” she says. “I borrow the latest bestsellers and old favourites too – you never know where you might end up.”
