10 of Our Favourite Children’s Books this Summer

Our Summer Book Quest is in full swing, but we know it can be hard to find reading inspiration for your little ones, which is why we’ve curated a list of 10 of our favourite children’s books this summer. From warm and witty poems to the bravest scaredy-cat in the world, find new family favourites in the library.
Every week, our libraries welcome children in to borrow books, participate in reading challenges, and enjoy activities. As a charity, we believe finding joy in reading is important at every age but especially for children. Reading can spark their imagination, build their confidence and expand their horizons, according to research by the National Literacy Trust.
We offer free book reservations to children under 18 years old from our online catalogue on their library cards. All you need is your library card number and PIN to log into the account to reserve a title, select your local library, and the book will be delivered there. An email will notify you of its arrival at the library of your choice.
